Le Marathon du Concerto

Le Marathon du Concerto

As part of Festival FORMES OLYMPIQUES X PUC

The last Marathon du Concerto was held on September 17, 2023 at the Gymnase Charpy, Stade Charléty in Paris.

Between the hours spent practicing their instruments, the late-night concerts and the days lost in transport, the life of a professional musician often resembles that of a top-level sportsman ! So, for this year’s Cultural Olympiad, Le Concert de la Loge is back on top form – and with it the Olympic epithet – setting out to test your stamina with a concerto marathon, a sporting genre if ever there was one, but always a friendly combat. It’s not for nothing that concerto comes from the word concertare, which means to fight or struggle in Latin.

After a successful first edition at the Gymnase Poliveau in September 2021, Le Concert de la Loge is looking to go one step further with a second edition of the concerto marathon.

Musicians are also athletes when they have to perform highly virtuoso pieces that are long and physically demanding. The aim is to showcase the physical and mental performance of the soloists with the task of performing a concerto.

The concept of the Marathon du concerto is to offer a long day dedicated to classical music, but designed for an audience of young people, sports enthusiasts and families. Leading soloists of international stature will leave their concert garb behind and don their sports attire to play a host of concertos by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Telemann, Handel and others for over 4 hours in the Gymnase Charpy in Paris’ 13th arrondissement.

PROGRAMME FOR THIS SECOND EDITION :

A session specially designed for youngsters aged from 2 to 14 based on a short version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
